Château Corton Andre
Pierre André is a name that can excite even the most sophisticated of palates. In 1923 one man fell in love with a very special place: Château de Corton and the
Corton Hill on which it proudly stands - “The Hill of Miracles”. Château de Corton is the only standing Chateau classified as Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune.
Pierre André now includes over 80 appellations from all over Burgundy, with only the best grapes being selected from each appellation. This long and difficult task has been accomplished over many years, using thorough knowledge of each individual terroir.
At Pierre André the notion of purity and terroir is sacred. Each glass of wine should be a clear and honest reflection of its origins. This is true for all their appellations. The closet possible attention to detail is kept through each step, from the vineyard to bottling to ensure that each wine expresses its own unique character.
In 2002 Corton André was bought by Ballande which also owns Chateau Prieuré Lichine in Margaux. Corton-André also produces wines from beyond Burgundy and has some impressive holdings including Grand Cru Vineyards (mostly Corton) plus 46ha elsewhere.
The Corton Hill vineyards produce truly rare and marvellous Burgundies which are at the very peak of the
region’s finest wines. They now offer a wider selection of Grands Crus of Corton than any other producer and are considered a specialist of Corton being based at the famous Chateau de Corton.
The Chateau is the most photographed Chateau in Burgundy and is featured on the first page introduction to Burgundy in the updated "World Atlas of Wine"-by Hugh Johnson and Edited now by Jancis Robinson MW -the best selling major wine book.
Now rated Top 10 Great Burgundy Houses from Decanter Magazine, and mentioned by Jancis in her recent FT weekend column as the one of the top 4 most improved and recommended Burgundy Houses, Corton Hill vineyards produce truly rare and marvellous Burgundies, which are at the very peak of the region’s finest wines.
Château Corton André white wines are a wonderful expression of Burgundy Chardonnay - full and round on the palate with beautifully complex bouquets of fruit, white flowers and spices. They have a perfect balance of fresh acidity and richness.
