Pinot Grigio 2008 - Giardino dei Vini, Piedmont, Italy

This is a clear step up from our entry-level Pinot Grigio. The fruit from this single vineyard provides a complex weave of fresh, floral, sunny peach and toasty notes. Fracchia’s wine is fuller than most with delicious grapey fruit and a nicely balanced acidity.

Founded by Vittorio Fracchia, the company is now run by the fourth generation of Fracchia family, keeping intact the principles of the art of wine-making. The winery sits within the heart of the DOC wine growing areas of Barbera d’Asti, Barbera del Monferrato and Moscato d’Asti.

Pinot Grigio, has been one of the hottest emerging varietals in recent years. The varietal reaches its peak in Alsace, France where it produces wines that are full-bodied, fruity and creamy in texture and which can reach levels of complexity rivalling the greatest white wines of Burgundy. However, the grapes popularity is very much down to Italy’s styling of reliably light, crisp, and delicate wines, with citrus flavors. Fracchia’s wine is fuller than most with delicious grapey fruit and a nicely balanced acidity.
