Rioja Crianza 2008 - Jaun de Alzate, Spain

The main grape of this Rioja is Tempranillo (85%); it is happily supported by the indigenous Viura, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha grape varieties. The result is a beautifully balanced wine with distinctive wild strawberry flavours and a hint of oakiness.

Our flagship range of premium quality Rioja’s from the Bodegas L Casado in the Rioja Alavesa. This pretty bodega has approximately 40 hectares of vineyard with vines an average age of 40 years. Eighty-five percent of the vines are the indigenous Tempranillo with the remainder comprising ‘blending’ varieties such as Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. One of our personal favourites is the 1995 Reserva:
