Shiraz 2010 – Gumdale, South Eastern Australia

Classic black berry, cedar and cassis character, with a complex finish of mint, pepper and eucalyptus. The full-bodied palate shows generous ripe raspberry and cherry flavours which team perfectly with spicy oak aromas.

The Estate Winery was established in 1945 by Francesco and Elizabeth Calabria, newly arrived immigrants from Italy in 1927. They purchased a five acre bock of land at the Western end of the township, Griffith in the Riverina region of New South Wales.

Westend Estate is a family affair under Bill Calabria’s guiding hand. His strong philosophy of keeping it personal has ensured that the 3rd generation of the Calabria family now participate in the family business with Bill’s three sons actively involved. Bill insists on a hands-on approach and supervises every aspect of the winemaking process. A small crush allows greater concentration on quality in both the vineyard and winemaking process which results in the high standard of wine, that has become expected of Gumdale wines each vintage.
