Tempranillo/Malbec 2010 - Finca Beltran, Mendoza, Argentina
Light bodied, bursting with cherries, red fruits and a hint of spice - great value red from Mendoza.
Both grape varieties, which originate from Spain and South West France respectively, have adapted admirably to the warm sunny climate of Mendoza.
Terrifically fruity with spicy overtones, this wine is organic too.
Familia Zuccardi is a privately owned estate winery in the province of Mendoza in mid-west Argentina. It was founded in 1963 by Alberto Zuccardi, father of the current Director, José Alberto Zuccardi. Alberto was a concrete pipe and irrigation specialist and saw the wine making potential of arid land. Vineyard development took place in 1968 and 1973 in two distinct growing areas: the main winery and its surrounding 170ha of vineyards are situated in Maipu, just half an hour from the centre of Mendoza city and the second desert site of the Santa Rosa vineyards just 85km to the East of Mendoza with 440ha under vine
Since 1985 Don Alberto’s son, José Alberto, has managed the winery with the same passion and love of innovation as his father and has led the experimentation of numerous grape varieties. Familia Zuccardi are great innovators. They pioneered the planting of Viognier and Zinfandel grape varieties using their own vine training methods.
Under the supervision of Familia Zuccardi’s experienced winemaker, Rodolfo Montenegro, every aspect of production from vineyard to bottle is recorded and monitored at the modern Maipu site. The steel winery equipment enables conservation of wines at low temperature, careful stabilization and temperature controlled storage which serves to preserve the fine varietal flavours that Finca Beltran wines proudly offer.
In 2003, Rodolfo selected a group of indigenous yeasts from the family’s own vineyards and produced wines such as Viognier, Chardonnay, Malbec, Merlot, Bonarda and Tempranillo with these native yeasts. Delighted with the resultant finesse and structure of the wines Rodolfo is now planning to produce all of their wines with indigenous yeasts in the future.

Finca Beltran Tempranillo/Malbec
Not a big lover of new world wine, but found this Argentinian red delicious ! Bags of lovely strawberry and raspberry fruit flavours with a soft, velvety finish. Stick a steak on the griddle and away you go !
Delicious!
I've bought this a few times on recommendation from the helpful chaps at Heritage - delicious berry fruits and a hint of spice, with a rich yet smooth body. Lovely with steak, or to drink on it's own!
Soft and easy drinking
I found this wine really smooth and easy drinking, quite a bit of structure , which gave it good depth. Very Nice
